The Academy Awards

Postby rughooker » 10:45 Mon 08 Mar 10

It was a good show last night. There weren't many production numbers, which was fine by me. This was the first time I watched them on a big screen tv and it was awesome. The women's gowns were glorious and George Clooney sure looked good up close. ;)

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin co-hosted and they had Michael and me laughing out loud. Their time on stage seemed pretty brief, but they were good while they were on.

My favorite file, The Hurt Locker, won best picture and the director, Kathryn Bigelow, was the first woman director to win an Oscar. It also won awards for sound editing and script adaptation. I was thrilled for her and for the movie, and if you can borrow it or rent it, I highly recommend that you do so. I was also pulling for the lead actor to win, but that went to Jeff Bridges, and I'm okay with that. He's been in the business for a long time and he reportedly did a great job in his movie. I expect we'll be seeing that as soon as we can get it.
I was wondering why the Frisbee kept getting bigger, then it hit me.

I didn't watch it either. I skimmed the newspaper article about it today.

I didn't see it, but I've got to say that I think Kathryn Bigelow is easier on the eyes than Sandra Bullock - not that Sandra is exactly cringe-inducing, but I love Kathryn's muscled arms. Give me a strong woman over a pretty one any day.

The only nominated film I saw this year was Avatar. I loved it, but I figured it'd be more a candidate for technical awards than for acting or directing. I'd really like to see Hurt Locker, Crazy Heart, and The Blind Side though.
Think! It's patriotic!

Ms. Bigelow is definitely a well-preserved 51 year old.
